Pamela Wax Explores the Healing Power of Poetry in “Walking the Labyrinth”

Pamela Wax is the author of Walking the Labyrinth (Main Street Rag, 2022) and the forthcoming chapbook, Starter Mothers (Finishing Line Press). Her poems have received awards from Crosswinds Poetry Journal, Paterson Literary Review, Oberon Poetry Magazine and the Robinson Jeffers Tor House. Her publication credits include Barrow Street, Pensive, Connecticut River Review, Heron Tree, Glimpse, Mudfish, Pedestal, Pangyrus, Reed Magazine, Naugatuck River Review, Sixfold, Solstice, and Passengers Journal, among others. Pam is an ordained rabbi who facilitates spiritual poetry writing workshops and walks labyrinths in the Northern Berkshires of Massachusetts—or wherever she can find them. Tina Cane (Poet Laureate, RI) on Capturing “Year of the Murder Hornet” in Verse [INTERVIEW]

Born in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, and raised in the Village, Tina Cane serves as the Poet Laureate of Rhode Island where she is the founder/director of Writers-in-the-Schools, RI. Her poems
and translations have appeared in numerous publications, including The Literary Review, Spinning Jenny, Tupelo Quarterly, Jubliat, and The Common. In her capacity as poet laureate, Cane has established her state’s first youth poetry ambassador program in partnership with Rhode Island Center for the Book, and has brought the Poetry-in-Motion program from the New York City Transit System to Rhode Island’s state-wide busses.

Cutter Streeby on Exploring the Intersection of Visual Arts and Poetry [INTERVIEW]

Cutter Streeby holds an MFA from the University of East Anglia and an MA in Literature from King’s College, London. He has delivered many lectures on poetics, translation, and translation theory, including “Navigating Lèse- Majesté: Translating the Poetry of Zakariya Amataya” at universities across Thailand and Malaysia while teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Publications, translations, and anthologies include The White Review, Anthology of South East Asian Poets (Vagabond Press), Chicago Quarterly Review, Chestnut Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Cincinnati Review and World Literature Today among others. He successfully exited his first marketing startup in 2020.

Poets at the Mic with James Morehead, Jessica Sabo, and Rachel Abramowitz

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–We’re excited to share the next Viewless Wings Live event recorded with poets James Morehead (Poet Laureate – Dublin, CA and author of “canvas” and “portraits of red and gray”), Jessica Sabo (poet and author of “A Body of Impulse”), and Rachel Abramowitz (poet and author of “The Birthday of the Dead”). The event, available now on YouTube and the Viewless Wings Poetry Podcast, featured a unique format: three poets, reading three poems, and after each performance a discussion of the poem. A round robin of readings and discussion.

Unlocking Memories by Writing Poetry

On this episode of the Viewless Wings Poetry Podcast, host James Morehead (Poet Laureate – Dublin, California) demonstrates how writing poetry can unlock memories and connect readers with universal truths. NIU School of Music Students Transform Haiku into Music

DEKALB, IL–I was privileged to play a role in a unique event organized by musician, author and poet Regina Harris Baiocchi, in collaboration with the Northern Illinois University (NIU) School of Music. Haiku contributed by poets from around the world were transformed into Haiku-length morsels of music by a diverse set of composers. The Haiku compositions were part of the two-day 9th NIU New Music Festival.
