FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Decentered Arts announces Verse in Fog, an immersive evening celebrating the literary and artistic soul of San Francisco. Taking place on December 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. PST at the Decentered Arts Studio, the event features four distinct poetic voices, live improvisational piano, and exclusive screenings of award-winning poetry films.
Under the theme “Four poets, one city, endless inspiration,” the evening offers a multimedia exploration of the Bay Area experience. The showcase includes readings by James J. Siegel, Rhea Joseph, Jessica Kie McCallum, and James Morehead, accompanied by the music of pianist Matthew Constantine (Hidden Thread).

-
James Morehead: Poet Laureate Emeritus of Dublin, California, and host of the Viewless Wings Poetry Podcast. Morehead is the author of The Plague Doctor and canvas, and his works have been adapted into animation and song.

James J. Siegel is a Pushcart-nominated poet and author of The God of San Francisco (Sibling Rivalry Press) and How Ghosts Travel. He is the host and curator of the long-running Literary Speakeasy at Martuni’s piano bar.
-
Rhea Joseph is a poet, curator, event producer, and emerging dancer who comes from a family of artists and entrepreneurs. She is one of the stewards of Decentered Arts, a non-profit dedicated to building community through art of all mediums. Rhea is currently working on her first book of poems.
-
Jessica Kie McCallum writes at the intersection of worlds. She is a mechanical engineer and life-long creative who enjoys poetry, hip-hop freestyle shuffling, junk-journaling, sketching, jewelry smithing, and singing. Born in SoCal, Jess explores clarity of expression as she connects to her African-American and Chinese-Indonesian identity.

In that time he’s performed a wide variety of genres including classical, jazz, electronic and improvisation.
Poetry Short Film Screenings The event will feature screenings of two poetry films produced by James Morehead:
- Welcome to the Tenderloin: A “cinematic sestina” directed by Paul Ghusar with poetry and narration by Morehead. The film unravels the complex, resilient, and artistic soul of San Francisco’s misunderstood Tenderloin district, challenging viewers to look beyond headlines to celebrate the spirit of the neighborhood.
-
tethered: An award-winning animated short directed by Gaia Alari. Utilizing traditional hand-drawn animation, the film brings to life the melancholy of a bell buoy anchored off the Pacific Coast, in sight of the Golden Gate Bridge.
