DUBLIN, CA–The City of Dublin’s annual Splatter Festival returns Saturday September 10 in Emerald Glen Park. The event, which runs from 12:00pm to 8:30pm, features Poets Take the Mic on the Side Yard Stage at 2:30pm. The 45-minute performance features eight local poets reciting original poetry.

Rakestraw Books Evening of Poetry Featuring Kate Moore / Ivan Hobson / James Morehead [REPLAY]

DANVILLE, CA–Rakestraw Books hosted three San Francisco Bay Area poets for an Evening of Poetry on Wednesday September 14, 7pm at Rakestraw’s Danville, CA location. Rakestraw regularly sponsors events featuring writers and authors. “Light Work / Shadow Play” a Poetry-based City of Dublin 40th Anniversary Public Art Project 

DUBLIN, CA–“Light Work / Shadow Play” is a collaborative artist and youth project incorporating the work of artist Thomasin Dewhurst, the poetry of James Morehead (Poet Laureate – Dublin, CA), Livermore art students, and Dublin’s Eta Carinae, a student-led performing arts group. The installation can be viewed at the City of Dublin Civic Center in front of the clock tower.

Patagonia San Francisco Hosting Bay Area Poet Laureate Celebration Friday May 13

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–Patagonia San Francisco is hosting the Patagonia Poet Laureate Celebration on Friday May 13, featuring poets laureate from around the San Francisco Bay Area and headlined by Tongo Eisen-Martin (Poet Laureate – San Francisco), with performances by posts laureate from Orinda & Moraga (Amy Glynn), Dublin (James Morehead), Emeryville (Sarah Kobrinsky), Alameda (Kimi Sugioka), and Livermore (Cynthia Patton). The event is free with optional donations in support of a local charity. Each poet will perform for 15 minutes with light refreshments available.

City of Dublin Poetry Walk 2022 Combines Poetry and Local Businesses

DUBLIN, CA–Viewless Wings, in collaboration with the City of Dublin, today launched Dublin’s first ever Poetry Walk as part of the City of Dublin’s 40th Anniversary and National Poetry Month 2022. For the month of April, 26 locations across Dublin are displaying poems curated from over 150 submissions by Tri-Valley residents and beyond. Submissions were curated by City of Dublin Poet Laureate James Morehead. Residents and visitors are encouraged to share selfies with poems on social media using the hash tag #DublinPoetryWalk. Viewless Wings will select up to five Poetry Walkers to receive free signed copies of Morehead’s books “canvas” and “portraits of red and gray“. Explore the City of Dublin and read them all!

Open Call for Poetry: City of Dublin Poetry Walk for National Poetry Month (April 2022)

DUBLIN, CA–The City of Dublin and Viewless Wings, led by Dublin Poet Laureate James Morehead, are collaborating on the City of Dublin’s first Poetry Walk during National Poetry Month (April 1-30). Modeled after a similar event in Rutland, VT, Dublin’s Poetry Walk will feature poetry submitted by poets around the world displayed in local business storefronts. Residents and visitors will be able to download or access online a Poetry Walk Passport with a map to visit all participating businesses.

DUBLIN, CA–The City of Dublin kicked off a year of celebrating its 40th Anniversary at last night’s City Council meeting (held exactly 40 years after Dublin’s incorporation on February 1, 1982). Bankhead Theatre “Double Take” exhibit features ekphrastic collaborations with local artists and poets

LIVERMORE, CA–Livermore’s Bankhead Theatre for Performing Arts, in partnership with Cynthia Patton (Poet Laureate – Livermore, CA) opened “Double Take“, an exhibit featuring ekphrastic collaborations between local artists and poets (January 20 – March 27, 2022). The exhibit pairs a visual art creation (photograph, painting) with an original poem inspired by the art. The result is a unique journey into the creative process, through images and words.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–“Gallery” for baritone and piano, composed by Deon Nielsen Price, with words by James Morehead (from his poem of the same name), will be world premiered Sunday November 14 – 4pm PST, as part of the free ICP Sunday Concert series. “gallery” will be performed by Welsh baritone Jeremy Huw Williams, accompanied by Paula Fan on piano. James Morehead (Poet Laureate – Dublin, California and author of “canvas: poems”) will recite his poem “Gallery” before the performance. The program also features pieces set to poems by Dana Gioia (Poet Laureate – State of California), Charlene Derby and E. E. Cummings, and songs by Welsh and American composers. Splatter Festival 2021: “Poets Take the Mic” – Side Yard Stage – Sat Sept 18 2:30pm

DUBLIN, CA–Calling all Tri-Valley poets and poetry lovers! The City of Dublin Splatter Festival (Emerald Glen Park) is returning on Saturday September 18 and includes a Side Yard Stage for local artists, musicians and performers. City of Dublin Poet Laureate James Morehead is hosting a 45-minute “Poets Take the Mic” performance (Sept 18 – 2:30pm) featuring local poets and spoken word artists. All performances will be appropriate for a general audience. Confirmed performers include spoken word artists and rapper Solachi Voz, San Ramon Poet Laureate Jenyth Jo, The Writer’s Spotlight and more.
